Naga Sai Temple History

In 1939, Sn. H.H.B.V. Narasimha Swamji, along with Sri A.V. K. Chari and Sri C. Varadaraja Ayyah, initiated the Sai movement in Coimbatore. The first institution of Sri Sai Baba in Tamil Nadu was established there. Sri Sai Baba was enshrined for devotees to seek darshan. In 1942, Sri A.V. K. Chari took charge of the center. Later, Sn. C. Varadaraja Ayyah generously donated an acre of land on Mettupalayam Road. A thatched shed was built on this land, housing the Sri Sai Baba Mission, which became known as Sri Sai Baba Madam. Regardless of social standing or faith, all were welcome to worship at any time. The Sai Baba Madam became a gathering place for Sai devotees in and around Coimbatore, where regular Sai bhajans were held on Sundays and Thursdays. Read More
